hi there,
im an international student from asia, and currently on progress of preparing the admission to get into ucla
but i got several problem:

my gpa only around 3.3 / 3.4

havent done the SAT, probably this december

havent take the ielts, probably next week, and the score maybe 7 (have taken the prep and simulation)

my ec's only:
1. 2 year exp of floorball in school, active as the main team of the school
2. active at organizing school event but not the member of student council. not joining because my parent not allow me
3. finalist of earthscience competition in province/state level
4. and few small achievement
5. (i think this is not really necessary but my friend said this is important) 9yr exp as class president.
6. education and training division in red cross

what should i do?
should i take community college and transfer to UCLA?
or
direcly send the admission?

UCLA’s average GPA is around a 4.2 weighted so even with an outstanding SAT score you have really no chance for acceptance. Going to a CC for 2 years and then transferring would be a great option. By starting at a CC, you basically wipe the slate clean with your GPA and no SAT is required to transfer. Good Luck. If you have any more questions, it is best to post in the UC Transfer Discussion. There you will receive alot of good advice. Santa Monica City College is the preferred CC for UCLA.

Just remember, as a Transfer and/or a Freshman, you will receive no Financial aid for UCLA or any UC.

so i cant apply for Financial Aid to all UC’s? because of? or thats the regulation? and about Santa Monica City College is only preferred to UCLA or all UC’s? how about the acceptance rate? im talking about chance and risk… thanks!

and about the GPA, im quite confused about weighted and unweighted because in my country not applying that kind of system, we put same point and scale for every subject and program. are american students have any guideline or syllabus about which component detemined as weighted and which is unweighted? thanks again!

Because of money for financial aid is only for the children of the California residents, since California residents pay the taxes to fund the university.
