Hello, I attended a small liberal arts college in MD for three semester, on a scholarship(not full).
I had pretty bad grades my last semester. At the same time, I had to get a 3.5 or higher GPA so I they would raise my scholarship.
During last years summer I told them that I am not coming back this for this past academic year due to the high tuition.
Now I am trying to go back to school or even transfer - which is what I would really prefer. I havent contacted anyone yet. I am not sure where to start and how it would be done considering the poor performance during my last semester in college.
Does anyone know how I can handle it?
I am actually considering to transfer But I am worried about the financial support I could get.
Thank you,
Thanks
It is very difficult for international students to get good financial aid. It is very difficult for transfers to get good financial aid. It is very difficult for students with weak academic records to get good financial aid. So, an international student who has a semester of “pretty bad grades” and wants to transfer needs to be looking for places where he or she won’t need any aid at all. Are there any options like that on your possible transfer application list?
If not, can your family scrape the money together to make your original LAC workable? Contact that place, and find out what your aid package would look like if you were to return there to study.
What’s your 3.5? What are you hoping to major in?
Study in your home country, work hard, and then find options for graduate study later. It is not the end of the world.
