international student aid

hey could you guys suggest me some schools that not only give a lot of financial aid for international students but also are good at business(like accounting or finance)

how do i apply for the financial aid

I need some clarifications on exactly what international financial aid is avaliable.

Stanford does not offer aid?

Do your chances of getting in get reduced if you apply for international aid?

Do the following Uni's offer aid?

Harvard, MIT, Princeton, U penn, Stanford

If so, can anyone tell me what the max amount they will offer is, or what they cover?

E.g. all tuition and board. 50% of tuition...etc.

ok guys since i applied this year, i know for a fact about which colleges give aid and which do not....
the following colleges will meet 100% of your need if you are accepted
A)National Universities:
Harvard(need blind to internationals meaning ur financial situation will have no effect in the admission commitee's decision)
Princeton(need blind to internationals)
Yale(need blind to internationals)
Columbia University:Fu Foundation(engineering school)
Columbia University:Columbia College
Brown
Dartmouth
UPenn
Cornell
mit
georgetown(not sure, research it)
tufts
brandeis
lehigh(doesn't give that much)
georgewashington university(not sure, research into it)
Duke
UChicago
Cooper Union (will give full tuition to all accepted, including internationals-so if you can afford $10,000 its worth applying)

B)LAC
williams(need blind to internationals)
amherst
swarthmore
midllebury(need blind to internationals)
bates
bowdoin
colby
haverford
wesleyan
vassar
colgate
hamilton
washington and lee
bucknell
trintity college
lafayette
bard
union
dickinson
franklin and marshall
sarah lawrence
gettysburg
skidmore
wheaton
st.lawrence
carleton, reed, macalester, oberlin, kenyon, colorado, whitman, connecticut, grinnell, occidental, lawrence(doesn't give much)

.......for us internationals with not so stellar stats, the place you apply ED will make all the difference...so choose your ED college very carefully.... ED1 is even better since the admission commitee can't compare you with candidates from the regular decision pool......

if you have any questions feel free to pm me....again choose your ED college properly...i can suggest you if you pm me....

have a great day

sorry cut off bucknell from the list
i'm not so sure about wheaton and brandeis

Uhh... I know for fact that Cornell doesn't meet 100%, a friend of mine couldn't accept their admission offer because of that. He was already offering to pay towards his education more than his financial documents allowed but they still wanted him to pay about $5000 more.

alabhya... I think good AP scores are prefered over SATs and if you can take AP take it but you're not required and if most applicants from your place do not take it, then not taking it won't really put you at a disadvantage. Just know that it's not required. As for A levels... although many schools just treat them as substitutes to a high school diploma some schools do award you credits for A levels and not only AP or IB. Although I did Edexcel, I'd say Cambridge would look better as it's more intensive (although the grading is easier). For example, MIT prefers Cambridge over Edexcel. If you're going for a top university, take four A levels, if Ivy Leagues, take five A levels and make sure you get As or if you don't... your SAT scores, if above 2200, will cover for that.

for the list posted previously about colleges meeting 100% of financial need...
that's only IF you are accepted. and for colleges like Columbia and UPenn, it explicitly states on their website that financial reasons will factor into admissions. So, I wouldn't exactly call that good financial aid packages. And plus I think schools basically besides Harvard, Yale, Princeton only offer a fixed number of financial packages each year.

Thank you ustudy,

Am i qualified for Finaid in HYPS?

i'm an international student, there are like 2 o 3 more students from my school that are thinking of applying to the same college (clark university), all of them in the need of applying to fin aid (since this is available for int'l students at clark u). do u think having 3 or 4 applicants from the same school (considering it is a foreign school) will have any effect on my admission posibilities and/or fin aid package?

bump,.,.,.,

I was wondering, if I have SSN and Work Permit but not a green card, do I qualify for FAFSA?

With SAT 1 scores of 2050 & interest in BioMedical engieenring. Which best colleges would accomodate with a budget of max $25K per year...is FinAid/Scholarship possible ?

look for liberal arts colleges, they give plenty of money compared to other private uni's, check the us news ranking and do ur research. you could also try some public universities to see if u get some scholarships (although they are very limited for int'l students) if you have good marks and ec's.

I'm considering transferring to the US to continue my study, is it possible that I don't get any money when I get the admission, but after I get in, study really hard, and get some scholarships? Thanks!
Barry

in response to your thread Barry I don,t think you can since most schools categorically state that u must get on admission or they wont give u again. But u can also get some outside schols.

in texas a&m's website, they mentioned about need based aid for international students.but nothing was said about whether it would affect admission or how much aid they would provide. can anyone please help me on this..

emeraldkity4, that's great you posted this list of colleges here. However, guys, i want to warn you You should not rely on the statistics like this one. For instance, i have seen this list of colleges at some site earlier and then started to check the information given in it with the individual colleges listed. Most of the college info did not mach this data!
