How much money can an international student get in any form (aid, scholarships or work) in University of Michigan Engineering? Is there a possibility to lower the cost from the estimated cost of $57,432 for non residents?
I am not looking for need based financial aid but is there any other source that could reduce the burden of this cost like an internship,or partime work, merit based aid etc ? If yes then I would like to know to what extent can it reduce my cost
Your ability to work here will be limited by your visa. You are a student…not a worker. If you don’t NEED need based aid, this implies that your family can pay for you to attend. Is that true?
@thumper1 What i had written earlier was that I am not ‘looking’ for ‘need’ financial aid as I am aware that it is limited for international students and yes my family can certainly pay for me to attend. But what I wanted to ask through this thread whether there is some source for internationals to fund their education as the expense is not a small one. I wanted to know if there are any international students who recieved some funding by any means which may include the ones i mentioned earlier.
I think it will be a challenge for you to receive merit funding through University of Michigan. There are a limited number of merit awards for students who are not residents of Michigan, and they are highly competitive.
What I don’t know…and I think it’s your real question…can international students be considered for these awards.
On another thread, you indicate you were deferred from University of Michigan. That being the case, I would guess that merit aid would not be forthcoming.
Did you apply elsewhere where merit aid is guaranteed? University of Alabama, for, example?
