I am an international student from Asia. I wish to major engineering in top schools such as Stanford, MIT and Caltech
I ‘do’ know that those schools require stellar performances in every single area, but I still wanted to see how people who have already faced admissions think about my chances.
The following are my achievements.('till 11th grade) + if you need further information, feel free to ask
(Scores)
-GPA: 5.0/5.0 unweighted (our school does not calculate class rankings, and our school is among the top 10 in the nation)
-ACT: 35, obviously 36 on both science and math, my English is pretty bad
-SAT2: triple 800 on Math2c, Physics, Chemistry
-AP: Physics C mechanics, e&m, Calculus BC, CS, Microeconomics all 5’s (5 on 5 subjects)
(Extra Curricular)
-Korean Informatics Olympiad(not the ‘inernational’ one) Silver Medal
-KYPT(Korean version of KYPT) Silver Medal(5th place)
-KSEF(Korean version of ISEF) made it to final round, have to see if I could get to the ISEF
-Google Science Fair regional contributer
-Translator of Physics Lectures (English to Korean)
-Own three research papers, two on mechanical, one on electrical engineering
-Taught physics to highschoolers
-Founder,leader of a invention club, and owns a patent(participated in a nation-wide invention competition and was selected)
-Actice member of economics club, held economics symposiums with other highschoolers
-School math&science competition Gold medal on Math, Physics, Chemistry (don’t think this will help though)
I do know that I fall short among the numerous people who want to enter prestigious universities, but I still want to give it a try, and will try by best.
So, what are my chances for top engineering schools?
Plus, you want to share your ideas, or want to give advices on further activities, feel free to tell me!
