I'm only trying for the top schools.
Stanford
MIT
Cornell
Dartmouth
Brown
CalTech
Northwestern
RPI
Duke
UPenn
Harvey Mudd

Your SAT score is good but your EC is too weak for an International. It would be extremely competitive as you also apply for aid. Would help if you add a few more safeties.

Stanford (with aid) - Reach
MIT - Reach
Cornell - You may get in, but you will probably not get any FA since they seem to be need-blind but does not promise to meet full need and from what I know Cornell can be very stingy.
Caltech - Reach

yeah thanks i know theyre pretty much all reaches…thanks for the opinions.
My safeties are basically here in my own country, Im just aiming for the best where it comes to colleges in the US. :)

Sreejagpt dont listen to littlebell.Your SAT scores are not good, they are perfect and your TOEFL result is almost perfect too.ECs are not so important as he says, although your ones are really good .Which country are you from ?

no you have it wrong, EC are important because they show who you are. As far as I am concerned, they are going to look at your resume and say, uh…
The GPA is there and the tests are there, but they will think that you are another person who wants to go to college by name and not by real motive.I guess I can take that back, from what I conclude, perhaps you are interested in writing, but make sure that shows.
In the essay you sent me, you told me you liked art but your ecs dont show that…

I’m sending an art supplement which has my art achievements. And remember my essay said i havent had the chance to participate in art bigtime?
I can’t get over how much that sucks. :(

Still…there is that greeting card competition I won…haha…
And 7 cartooning competitions…
And I taught myself Graphic Design, and won digital art competitions…
And the head of the Art Department commissioned me to design the cover for this binder that our school’s submitting as part of a City-wide Art Project…that’s going on the reco she’s writing me.

Its all in my Art Supplement, I don’t know why I didnt put it up here. :-|

Stanford: low reach
MIT: reach
Cornell: low reach
Dartmouth: low reach
Brown: low reach
CalTech: low reach
Northwestern: low reach
Duke: high match
UPenn: high match
You’ll probably get into quite a few of the schools, but admissions at great schools are often a toss up, which is why I put reach for most.

OMG why are u giving her low reaches ??Her SAT is 2310 !!! How many US students get such scores ???If she is not an Asian she has a greeeat chance. The competition between Asians is huge.

um… the international pool is A LOT harder to get in. i think all those schools are reaches, but you definitely have a shot. apply to colgate too, it’s a good school and you have a good shot.
