Hi, I'm from Venezuela and i'm going to apply next year to Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, Yale and NYU. I took the SAT II and i don't think my results are good enough, please tell me what you think:
Math I 610
French: 740
Literature: 720
Then my uw GPA is 3.4
I've played the oboe since i was 11 i've played in a symphonic orchestra, a band and diverse chamber groups, i've done some comunity service, i was in a choir during 10 years and we traveled to different countries and now i'm studying one year abroad in france. So, if i get a really good recomendation letter and i do a good essay do i have any chance to get in? Uh, and also i've been in the UN simulations at national levels and won an award.

Please tell me what you think because i'm a bit depressed right now...thanl you!

Hey, I think your chances of entering Harvard, Yale and Stanford is pretty low... You definitely need more matches/ safeties... I think NYU may be a match/slight reach.

Perhaps you may want to consider UCLA, UCSD, and other less selective schools.

ehmm shouldn't you also take the Sat 1

yeap i'll be taking them in january. WIth a bit of luck i might have 2000 + by the way, could you help me with some questions about the appliation? i have some serious dilemmas

I would say that with your stats you're going to have a tough time getting into Harvard, Yale or Stanford, but you do have a decent shot at some good schools.
About your questions: shoot!

thanks! i know i'll have a tough time but i'll just give it a shot. Well about my questions: i'm not sure of my gpa: It's 17/20 but i have no idea of it's value in the american system. Afterwards, if i'm no longer in school when i apply i don't have to send the mid year report? And well the last one, and the most complicated. I graduated last year and rigth now i'm in france studying abroad, i'm in high school here, but i won't get a diploma or anything. However, i'd like to have my letters written by the french teacher because they know me better than the venezuelan teachers. So, should i send my french notes, even though they're not part of my offcial academic report and that they'll be low since i don't speak well french, in order to have the letters from french teachers? Hope you can help me! Thank u!!!
