Well I've just submitted my application and just now I accidentally found that I checked "Yes" for "pursuing need-based financial aid".....zomg.
Well technically we can pay.
That said, my family is having some problems and it may be a bit tight for us to pay it all.
So I'm struggling whether I should email AO to tell them that I actually don't have to receive an aid to attend. I know that SB is public, so there are not many FAs available, and many are struggling to even try to afford it.
But I still wonder, given my family's situation...if I just don't tell them then will I get an offer (likely)?
Me:
Chinese, SAT I 2220 (CR740, M780, W700), SAT II Math II 800, Phys 800, Latin 750, zero AP (not offered), rank 60/1048, grade ~90/100, a bunch of ECs, a few prizes, several short "research paper"(nothing STEM though)....

Even though you checked that box I don’t think it matters because the only money Stony Brook will give you will be merit aid, not based on need.

International students cannot receive financial aid from Stony Brook but can be eligible for scholarships. The aid that is given to Stony Brook students is from the US or State governments, which is why International Students cannot be eligible.
