International Student Meaning

Hey all,

I am applying to Exeter, Andover, Choate, Deerfield. I am a multi-racial African-Carribean but I live in Japan. Will my diversity be considered based on my nationality or based on where I live?

It really does not matter. If you are not an American citizen, there is precious little to be gained by diversity. While it will vary by school, internationals are pretty much all lumped together from an admissions perspective. But if there comes a point where admissions needs to balance geographically, you citizenship will trump your residence for most schools.

@skieurope hi I was wondering that too. I was born in the US so I have a US citizenship but my parents do not. Would I be considered as an international student?

If you are a US citizen, then you are a domestic applicant. If you are a US citizen living abroad, the school may classify you as such, but you would still have the “advantage” of being a domestic applicant.
