Hello everyone, I'm an international student. I have studied in US for 2 years, and I'm going to apply to universities in USA next year, which is my great pleasure. After searching for days about USA universities, I found that I really really really want to go to UCLA. However, I also found that it's very difficult for international students to get in, and there are a lot of controversial opinions about applying to UCLA. So, here is the problem: my current GPA is 4.0 and I havent take SAT yet, but I plan to take ACT instead. Moreover, my current highschool is such a passive school because they dont organize to much community activites; so, my activities are quite bad. So please can anyone help me to get the highest possibly chance to get into my dream :( ? Many thanks

and sorry for my bad grammars, possible*

First question is do you need Financial aid, since UC’s give little or no Financial aid for International students?
You need to calculate your UC GPA see link: <a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
Your GPA looks good but I cannot give you an idea what your chances are since you have no SAT/ACT scores. You would need to aim for an SAT of 2100+ or ACT of 31+ to be competitive. Since your EC’s are lacking, I would concentrate on writing some great essays. Good Luck

Thank you very much, what if I have a certificate that I had a voluntary summer job and I plan to do several community works will my chance increase ? And I heard a lot of opinions that we will have a chance to get in with 1k8+ SAT and 27+ ACT.

Unless you are full pay, those numbers are low. Here is a link for the 2014 Freshman Profile at UCLA:

As an international, you want to be above the 50th percentile for scores and GPA to have the best chance of acceptance. The UC’s only audit a small group of individuals to show proof of EC’s. Definitely hang on to the documentation, but just list the information on the application.
Many of the low scores and GPA’s listed are for recruited athletes or special circumstances. Aim higher… for the best result.

Another course of action - after high school, you can move to CA and attend a community college, to increase your chances of transferring to and graduating from a UC.

thank you very much guys, and I have 1 more problem about the personal essay. So do we have to specialize it or just as simple as you can write it ?

The UC personal statements need to reflect something about you that can’t be learned from other parts of the application. Oftentimes your statements should describe experiences that help the admissions counselors get to know you better.

Attending a community college will be costly, since the OP would be full pay. Our CC’s don’t have housing so, living in California will be outrageously expensive. UC fees will also be full freight.
