International student SAT scores

Hey guys,

So I applied to McGill and forgot that I had listed it in my College Board account as one of the uni's I send scores to. I am an international student. McGill does not require SAT scores from me, but I am worried that since McGill received them, they will impact my application negatively. I have a 740 on math, which is good, but my Critical Reading is 530 and Writing 580, which are lower than average. I also submitted my TOEFL scores. I have 103/120, which is also good.

My question is: If I'm an international students, will my lower than average SAT English scores impact my application negatively? Will my TOEFL scores just cover them up? Please help! I have good school grades and good TOEFL scores, and I don't want this to just ruin my chances of acceptance.

McGill only requires SAT scores for American applicants. I don’t think they will even look at them if submitted by an overseas applicant. Good grades and a strong TOEFL score are all that is needed.

@tomofboston I really hope you’re right! I think I have a good chance of being admitted. Thanks for the reply! Anyone else?

He is definitely wrong the sat scores will be considered if even if they have been submitted by people studying in a non us curricula system, I checked this with mcgill before I applied. That said I don`t think those scores would jeopardize your application.

Those SAT scores coming from an American applicant would be an automatic rejection. McGill will ignore them since you are coming from a non-US, non-English speaking secondary school.

Thanks for your replies guys, but the same day you posted your replies was the day McGill replied about the issue. They told me that SAT scores are only considered for US students, so only my TOEFL score will be considered for proof of proficiency in english. Yay!
