International students chance for scholarships

I was admitted recently. My sat score is 1340 (cr math) and gpa 3.9.
The university’ website says that students with sat score 1330- 1400 can recive 2/3 tuition award.
But i am not sure that 2/3 tuition means out of state tuition or in-state tuition?
Out of state tuition and fees is $19,200 .If i get 2/3 tuition award, does that mean i get about $12,000 scholarship per year?

Hi! :)

Glad to hear that you’ve been accepted! What country are you from?

Did you submit your scholarship application?

If so, when did you submit it?

The 2/3 means out-of-state tuition - so yes, that’s a $12k scholarship per year.

What major did you put down on your applications?

i am from China and i submit scholarship application before Dec 1.
Also send all other required documents before scholarship deadline. But UA recive my high school transcript at Dec 8th. Because i am from China, sending a mail may take longer time that us students.
So , i am not sure whether i can be considered for scholarship. Dec 1 or 4 is post marks or the day that UA must recive all required documents.

I think post mark is ok. They understand that your info is coming from overseas.

Email carolyn.rogers@ua.edu and tell her all the dates of submittals. She is the director of scholarships. I am typing this from my phone so I’m sorry if I’m vague.

Hi, got my internet back! :)

Yes, send Ms. Rogers a polite email mentioning the dates that you applied to the school and for scholarships. Mention that your transcripts were sent from China, and that you apologize if they took some extra days to get to the US.

Mention that you look forward to attending The University of Alabama, and that you look forward to hearing from her soon.

Then thank her for her time and attention to this matter. :)

Include name, address, & CWID number. You should also mention your GPA and SAT (Math + CR).

:) A polite note always goes a long way with Alabama.

Warning, you may get a “form letter” response back. Don’t let that confuse you. Alabama is busy right now with a huge pile of apps, so they might send a “form-letter” email that simply says your scholarship info is being processed, etc.

Another way to find out is…

Have you applied to the University Honors Program (UHP)? If not, you need to do that ASAP. You will get accepted. Then, Jami Gates at the Honors College can be asked to look into your scholarship. :)

Here is the link to apply to the Honors College and UHP. http://honors.cbhp.ua.edu/index.php?page=apply

Let me know how this goes. :)

mom2collegekids
