International (with some U.S. community college) Transfer Chances

Hi!

I’m new to CC and I’m not sure where to start as my situation is kind of complex.

I have attended a foreign high school and 2 foreign (but also American) universities and am now attending a SD community college.

I did really well in high school but poorly at both universities because even though they are American universities abroad, they do not offer (or seem to offer) learning disability accommodations (sounds bizarre, I know) nor do they mention to you that your difficulties may be due to a learning disability (I didn’t even know I had one + learning disabilities are almost unheard of in the foreign -3rd world- country in question). It made it really hard for me to do continue to do well. I had to withdraw from 2 semesters (completely), repeated a few courses, then decided to come to the U.S.

I have a foreign GPA of 2.81 (not including my high school GPA which is hard to calculate) and a 4.0 so far in my few community college courses. I also had to withdraw from my previous semester courses at a community college due to illness.

I am really confused as to my chances of getting accepted as a transfer student. I cannot seem to find anyone who is able to at least give me an estimate (or big picture). I tried talking to different counselors at my 2 community colleges & an international ED consultant here in the U.S. but no one was able to help me. It depends on each university I want to transfer to.

So please any help/suggestion is really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Transfer information would come from the receiving university, in this case, USD. The CC’s don’t really know whether your stats will guarantee admission. You need to go to the school websites that you hope to attend and look at transfer requirements. Google is your friend.

If you still can’t get answers, contact the university’s admissions office.
