I know this isn’t exactly “HYPS”, but a friend of mine got into MIT last year. He’s from El Salvador and I think his total IB Diploma score was 42 out of 45, and his SAT score was something around 2300. He took 3 IB subjects at HL and 3 at SL. No additional classes apart from National Studies, TOK, and PE which are compulsory.

He was pretty good.

This year, another friend, from the same school, got into MIT. He had the same workload, and I think he had nearly the same SAT scores, but his predicted IB grades were, I THINK, a little lower than the last guy’s.
