Do any of the dorm buildings have wifi or is it all Ethernet? If Ethernet can you bring a wireless router/whatever that's called so you and your roommate can have wireless access in your room?

I read on their housing website that they are Ethernet, but you can install your own wireless router as long as you put your room number in the SSID.

I’m not sure about all of the dorms, but I lived in International Village and it has wireless. All of the ones that don’t have wireless allow you to set up a router, though.

Both of the above are correct. To wrap it all together:

IV is the only dorm with wifi. Some dorms you may be able to access campus wifi from (it’s not like they wifi proof the walls or anything), but it isn’t at all consistent enough to be helpful.

In all other dorms, you can set up a router (all rooms should have as many ethernet ports as there are beds, and if you’re living in a room with a common area, it should have at least one). There are certain regulations with routers, but for the most part, no one follows them - at least not the naming rules. If you want to be safe, it can’t hurt to stick to the regulations to the letter, but it really isn’t a big deal.

One thing to note - setting up a laptop as a router is a bad idea. They will contact you and threaten to prevent your devices from accessing the internet. This can be a bit annoying as there are a few devices campus wifi doesn’t play nice with, but if you get your own router, there shouldn’t be an issue.

As a further note, I believe that the common rooms in all the dorms are supposed to have wireless as well.
And that bit about naming - they say that you’re supposed to name your wireless network by your building and room number, but people are way more creative than that. Mine is Doctor Why right now, I think.

Is there unlimited data on wifi and ethernet?

Yes, dogod11.
