My friend was recently complaining to me about Cornell's internet policy and how they have a limit on internet usage, and if they went over the limit, they'd have to start paying per gigabyte. I already checked the technology services site and it doesn't specifically mention it, so I was just wondering if Wesleyan had an internet usage limit, thanks!

Nope! It’s unlimited. There are wire ports in all rooms, and wireless for basically the entire campus (ir. all dorms and classrooms and most if not all outside spaces. I think wireless doesn’t get to all the woodframes, maybe).

I’ve also heard about some colleges limiting internet uses, such as torrenting. Are there any limitations to using internet at Wes?

Yesss i was hoping it was unlimited haha. Anything on torrents?

torrenting is not a good idea. I know people that have done it successfully, but it bogs down the system a lot and if they figure out that you’re doing it you could get in trouble.

file sharing in general is not hard.

Yeah, I mean, you CAN torrent, but it’s slow, makes things slow for others, and can potentially get you in trouble with ITS.

However, as jarsilver says, there are ways to file share.
