Internet Provider in CT

Hey...

There was a direct Internet connection in my building to the Road Runner service, but now I'm moving to another apartment, and I was wondering what's the best service I can get. (I searched the old posts, and couldn't find anything on that)
So guys, what high speed internet are you using in your collegetown housing? Are there any choices at all? I "juuuuust" want an unlimited, stable, and fast connection :P
(btw: I might or might not get TV... for now I'm just planning on the Internet)

Thanks.

All of my friends (and me) used Road Runner...I think it's around $40 per month and goes up to $45 or $50 if you do wireless through them.

how is road runner as far as torrents go? do they monitor? do they cap your speed? D:

i currently subscribe to a hotspot (near the commons) for $8 a month but it can be laggy sometimes and there's to be no torrenting :(

i'm thinking i'd just do my downloads on campus :P

I used Road Runner through the hookup provided in Collegetown Plaza and the speed was capped...but it was still very fast. My family has Road Runner in our home and I doubt it's monitored or cap the speed...even with all 5 of us on it's still crazy fast and we download a lot.

dewdrop87: thank you for the info! yeah, I think I'll take Road Runner.

ResurgamBell: doesn't Cornell monitor for downloads? I'm a huge torrent fan, but I always thought it's not safe to do it on campus.

well actually it is the networks like NBC, MPAA and RIA that monitor and alert cornell of the activity...

the torrents i download are usually not protected by such rich bastards...

Hmm ok. Because I thought there had been a change in Cornell's policy about downloads... but I might be mistaken.

Well...there is a 5MB limit per month...is that what you're thinking about?

uTorrent + ipfilter from bluetack and you're set. Or PeerGuardian 2.

lol 5MB limit, that would be crazy small. I think you mean the 10GB per month limit.

Nope, I didn't mean the limit. I was really talking about monitoring the type of downloads... but as I said, I might be confusing it with some other story... especially since I had a friend from the Law School, and she was very careful not to get into trouble with any downloads.

Noober: thanks for the suggestions :)

Oh yeah...didn't live on campus my last 2 years at Cornell...forgot the limit switched to 10MB :-)

When I lived on campus I downloaded a lot and wasn't caught :-D
