Internship at JP, ML, Lehman, Blackstone, etc..

if anyone has interned at one of these places I would like to know about the application process... what it takes to get a interview.

I just finished interning at etc, it was an amazing experience. lol

^ho ho ho

Actually OP, I will be starting full time at one of the 4 you mentioned in a week or so (London office). The application process is basically what you would expect. Apply online, spend enough time writing good answers, have some impressive experience from related internships and hopefully a couple of languages under your belt as well, plus strong grades, at least in the top 25% of your class, and of course show that you've done research into the specific firm you are applying to. Nothing worse than a generic application.

Good luck.

thanks. even tho you're from london, did they offer housing assistance to interns? I was wondering cuz I live on the west coast (U.S.) and i want to do an internship on the east coast.

yes they offer housing

thats tight. because i would just have pipe dreams if i thought i could rent a place in NYC or Boston for just the summer

Just to let you know companies in new york that offer housing assistance most of the time are dorms at local colleges. Granted you pay much less that you would for a partment in new york though hahaha

^ For internships or intern training the accomodation may be in dorms I'm not sure. Didn't do a typical banking internship and I don't know any interns.

yeah i had thought if they did offer housing than it would be in the dorms and would have 1-2 roomates. ill be 21 next summer so if i end up getting an internship then its going to be kinda embarrasing living in a dorm but since its free then i dont mind.

my friend from Cornell is doing an internship with UBS and he is housed in an NYU dorm

^In that case is the company paying for housing or is your friend paying?

i'm pretty sure it's the company. I don't think interns generally pay for their own housing

yes the companies offer AND pay for your housing

ok... this questions is for the hopeful but do they give you a meal stipend as well? for example 75 bucks a week...

Sure they give you a meal stipend, it's called your salary. For example 60-75k pro rata.

having interned at a top bulge bracket bank, here are the perks:

60,000 pro-rated salary, meaning 2500 paid out bi-weekly
2,000 housing allowance- they give you a bonus but its generally up to you to find housing, sometimes the bank will have a reserved spot at NYU but you're still paying for it
$25 meal allowance for staying past 7pm
Free black car service after 9pm

Agree with the above post -- although the house stipend was $4,000 at my bank.

They also had reserved spots at NYU dorms but you had to pay for it (I think around $2,000 for the internship).

They also offer roundtrip airlines tickets gratis.

Is this only for SA's in IBD? What's it like if you're interning for PWM as a sophomore?

you actually get 15k for a 3 month intern? That sounds really a lot..

you get prorated on a starting analyst salary
60k starting salary/12 months = $5000 * 3mo = $15000
