internship chances?

hi, i know im a newbie to this board..
i guess ill explain my situation..
im currently a senior@michigan state university majoring in finance
im going to be graduating in fall 2009, and want to do an internship this summer.
one of the summers during college was spent doing a study abroad, and the other two were spent with summer classes.
my GPA: 3.83
EC's: finance association, student investment association, korean finance association, korean student's photography club.
foreign languages: korean, japanese.

basically, what are my chances of landing a summer internship at a large firm?
specifically, JP morgan, or merill lynch.

i'm not very familiar with the internship jobs market.
i realize its crunch time, i just wanted some perspective.

also is it too late to start applying for summer 2009 internships? my advisors told me they usually start in the winter to spring..but i can see from some posts that deadlines for some firms like goldman sachs have already passed..
thanks a lot to anyone who can help.

most of these firms start posting internships around december with deadlines in january (i think) so there is still time but don't wait until spring.

Yeah, I think Spring is kind of late. Start applying now if you have not done so already.

ok this is a thread hijack...but does anyone know the deadlines fro consulting firms like mckinsey, accenture and bain

You will have a very hard time this year. There will be limited opportunities and they will most likely go to students at the usual suspects unless you have a connection. My firm is taking on probably half of what we hired last summer and I haven't asked if others are doing the same.

If you would consider back office internships they may be opportunities there, get your resume in now. All of this also applies to consulting. Those firms' business is also way off and fewer will probably be hired.
