Internship fair tips?

<p>I'm going to attend a communication internship fair that my school's public relations club puts on, on Tuesday. I was just wondering if anyone had some insight on what to do when I'm there since this will be my first career or internship fair. I've been working on editing my resume and figuring out what to wear. Any tips? They released a list of the people who are going to be there, and I have 5 internship firms that I am highly interested in. When I get to the fair should I go straight for those 5, or should I talk to everyone but put the most emphasis on the 5 I am most interested in? </p>

<p>I am also working on an elevator speech but I just don't know when during an exchange would you say it? Is it like, you go up, shake hands, introduce yourself and then begin your elevator speech, or do you ease into it by asking some questions?</p>

<p>It’s great to have an elevator pitch, but you are realistically not going to use it all that much. Most of the job fairs and internship fairs at college campuses are more about networking than anything else. You will meed dozens of companies looking to hire; they will give you information about their companies and how to apply, that’ll be that. </p>

<p>Definitely bring plenty of copies of your resume; it’s a small thing, but bring a nice looking portfolio to keep information in (it looks nicer than a manila envelope); dress should be business professional. You should obviously make a point to look into the companies you want to work for, but you will be able to talk to far more than five companies.</p>
