Internships (CS/Math) Starting in July?

D is having difficulty “scheduling” her Spring study abroad followed by an internship because everything she has looked at starts by mid-June and most start earlier than that. Her two study abroad choices are New Zealand and Capetown and apparently she would not get back to the states until June 26th. She is a Math/CS major and there don’t seem to be many options for study abroad to fit that double major.

Does anyone know of internships that start July 1st or thereabouts or can point us in the right direction. Or…on the other hand, recommend a study abroad program for her majors for Spring 2018? Her only other option appears to be Spain but she isn’t comfortable taking higher level courses in Spanish.

She had intended to start job hunting the spring of graduation but do some students do an internship after graduation and before applying for full time positions elsewhere?

A lot of internships I have seen for my kid require one to be in college. I don’t know if that is the case for your daughter’s field.

I have heard of delaying graduation until August to take care of this requirement. The internship would be taken for a token amount of summer school credit and then the diploma is presented in August. This may be easiest at state schools that have lots of students taking summer courses.
