Can anyone share his experience of finding an internships as an international student?

I will be a CS+ Math major and whenever I find internships opportunities online, almost 90% are only open to US Citizens. Is it really hard to get one as an international?

yes, it is. I’ve been looking but still cannot find one for international student.

It’s really hard for international students to get internships or jobs because most companies don’t want to exert the effort in giving them visa sponsorships. Your best bet would probably to find something in your respective native countries; most international friends of mine ended up going back to their home countries after graduating and the few that have trouble are the ones who want to stay in the US.

One of the reasons internships are difficult to find for international students is that many companies have US government contracts and those employers are obligated to employ US citizens on those contracts. As international students, you are guests in this country and the government will help to educate you, but cannot guarantee or promise a future job.
