IS it hard to get interships due to Cornell not being near a big city? Thanks

I was at the Prospective Candidates Weekend, and from what I hear, many (major) companies come to Ithaca and do all that internship stuff, so getting an internship shouldn't be hard.

It isn't hard at all. The recruiting is very heavy here, especially from investment banks and other business-related companies.

I'm a freshman, and I'll be working at Cantor Fitzgerald this summer.

AJ, how did u get an internship as a freshman, did u have a contract w. this firm?

Also, AJ, are you in AEM?

Yes, AEM Freshman. Yes, I knew some people, worked the connections I had, and got lucky. I don't think most freshman get to do internships, but occasionally things pop up. In business, who you know is everything.

What is your major? Do you mind if I ask how much you are making?

Um, my major in AEM (Applied Economics and Management). It's Cornell's undergraduate business program.

How much I'm making doesn't really matter, it's about the experience and resume building. I honestly couldn't even give you a ballpark range, because I don't even know if it will be paid or not. All that I have been told is that I'll be in the mutual fund department primarily and that I'll be "challenged."

I'm giving tennis lessons for $25-$50 per hour the last three weeks of summer, so whether I get paid or not for the intership doesn't matter to me.

I understand. That is wonderful.
