Do any of you guys know effective ways to get internships. As a freshman, would I have to apply online and submit my resume and cover letter. How hard/difficult is it to get an internship at this economic time and should I worry about my GPA (I know they don't officially calculate, but still). I will have a 3.67 this quarter (B in English): is it competitive here and if not will it affect my chances a lot? I want to study harder and get do better.

A anything above a 3.5 is a fine GPA, unless you want to go to law/medical school.

I would advise going to career fairs to hand out your resume, or applying to specific employers that interest you. You could also apply for REUs. I believe that those pay more money in general, but are probably more work.

the best thing you can do is go to the Career Fair in Spring. I dont know about REUs. Your GPA wont be a factor as much as your inexperience as being a freshman will. Some freshmen get internships though. Arrange an appointment with the Career Development Center. They can help you more than anyone on this board.
