i have an interview tomarrow with an alumna at an outdoor coffee shop in santa barbara at noon. now, for my andover interview, i wore classic black pants and a very nice sweater and black flats (at his house in santa barabra.. i think he was wearing a sweater and khakis or something.. man i wish i was a guy at times like these) and i was ready to go. simple, modest, somewhat formal/business casual, conservative, etc. but this will be at a cafe in santa barbara.. while i still plan on being all of the aforementioned, i don't want to feel uncomfortable.. i plan on wearing a very nice, plain, long-sleeved, light-weight sweater and the black flats.. but then what for bottoms? the pants are very business casual.. not my style, but i guess everyone who goes on an interview needs some form of the black pants. i think jeans are a huge no-no for the other interviews.. but would a pair of dark, well-made, brand new pair of jeans w/ neat seams and trim and whatnot be ok? skirts are out of the question. i will be wearing a nice plan sweater and little to no jewelry....

also - how many of you bring your resume to an interview (this is prep school.. not college, but still..)?

hmm, well for me i try not to bring in my resume just because i have soo much iknow ill need to talk about that ISNT about my resume iguess? but iono, its different for everyone. whatever u feel confortable with i suppose. :)

as for the dress, dont stress it. it couldnt be as bad as my milton one, :D

cmon.. what pants do i wear??? i need to know if i need to go out to shop right now.. ugh the perils of procrastination... i can't escpe it. it runs in my family. it's my fatal flaw!!

lol okok- idk that skirts are definitely ok, just maek sure theyre not too short. and ummm jeans im really not sure- imean idk i know what u mean, like sometimes really dark jeans CAN look very formal. (:D hehe im quite partial to those...)

why not just wear the same outfit as before? it can be ur 'lucky outfit' or something lol... :)

I would go with the school dress code. If they school says no jeans, then don't wear jeans. If it doesn't, then don't worry about it. Perhaps it would be easier if you just wore what you wore to the alumnus's house. It's not that bad. Skirts are fine. I wore dresses, and that was all right.

that's what i'm referring to in terms of jeans.. and black flats and a nice black cashmere sweater.. and no jewelry. or maybe a little. is it too casual?

I myself don't care for jeans in general, but it's probably fine. If it were for, say, Deerfield, I might not recomend wearing jeans, since they're dress code is quite strict. If the website doesn't explicity say you can't wear jeans, then it's probably fine.

yeah it's so much easier being a guy. i would just wear a nice sweater w/ an oxford shirt underneath and khakis.. so easyyyy. or if it were at the school, i would wear khakis and a sportscoat and a dresshirt. ahh.
