So yesterday I had my interviews at deerfield and Berkshire both in Massachusetts. I am worrying about the Deerfield interview though because while in the interview she my AO said I should also check out hotchkiss after I told her my list of schools because she asked if I had any other schools in mind. Is this a bad thing? Was she hinting that I wasn't a good fit for the school? Otherwise the interview went well! My Berkshire interview went really well and my mom told me that in her interview that was separate from mine she sounded like she thought Berkshire was the best place for me!

I would actually take it as a positive comment, although it depends on what your whole list is. Remember, both DA and Hotchkiss take a very small percentage of their applicants. Her comment may have meant that she thinks you ARE a good candidate for those super selective schools, so she was encouraging you to apply to another as well-- not because she thought you weren’t qualified for DA, but because you ARE-- but the percentages are just tough to overcome. But it seems like she’s saying you’re a really good candidate.

bump pls answer my question

i don’t think you have to worry about that. I have to endure 6 interviews for colleges and at every one the interviewer asked me about the other colleges I was looking at. I think they’re just looking for a trend in the types of schools you’re looking at. But unlike me, you’re looking at prep schools. I don’t think you should fret too much.
As long as you were honest and yourself, I’m sure the Deerfield interviewer like you!

I would think it is neither negative nor positive. It is dangerous to build your expectation on a single comment like that. Focus on your essays and other application for now.
