When do Princeton interviewers need to do interview by? I'm still waiting

I just got an e-mail. I have to go to Tokyo for my interview. ;)

I know that everybody who hasn't been contacted is going to be freaking out until they finally do. The same thing happened with the ED group this year. A lot of people were contacted quite early, and a lot of people were waiting nervously for weeks before they got an email. My advice to everyone is just to wait...MOST people will be contacted. If you live CLOSE to a metropolitan area (and by close, I probably mean like...within 2 or 3 hours?), it is more than likely that you will be contacted. The deadline that they would like to have all of the interviewer stuff in by is Feb. 15th, I think, but for the ED round a lot of people were still getting interviewed after the alleged deadline.

My interviewer told me that he has to submit his report by the end of February....I was just contacted yesterday about an interview and it is now scheduled for February 15.
You should probably be contacted soon...

Has everyone been contacted by email? Or do they sometimes contact you another way? The reason I'm asking is that the home phone number I supplied on all of my applications is a little iffy, as in, the answering machine maybe records one of three messages that are allegedly left, and it makes itself busy for no reason at random times (we have wireless internet, so it's not that). Everyone in my family just uses a cell phone, but I'm worried that if somebody from Princeton tried to call my house it wouldn't get through somehow. Do they tend to stick to email?

i have not been contacted yet, but a few of my classmates have already had their interviews. I'm not too worried yet, but will probably start stressing when February 1 rolls around and I have two weeks to do it.

j07: My interviewer called me to make an appointment (I never got an e-mail). If you're worried, maybe you should send an e-mail to the admissions office telling them about your phone (and maybe give them your cell number or something). They will probably forward the info to the people who actually need it.

But the vast majority get contacted by e-mail, so it probably isn't a problem at all.

My son received an email from the Princeton Alumni Club, stating the interviewer's name and that if he didn't hear from her within a few weeks, he could contact her. Has anyone else heard?

I recieved an e-mail about my interview...

My daughter also received an email from Princeton stating the interviewer's name and his phone number. She was told to contact the interviewer in 3 weeks if she didn't hear from him. She was contacted by phone a week after she received the email. The interviewer came to the house.

I haven't been contacted by anyone, and I'm in DC (that's DC proper, not MD or VA)... I'm not going to worry about it quite yet, though. I'm sure I'll hear from them soon enough.

So there aren't a hundred other threads starting about the same subject, maybe we could "set" a pretend date. Like, if an interviewer doesn't contact you by ________, you should probably call Princeton and see if they're going to.

I guess right now we can set that "date" at March 31 (jokingly, of course), because I don't know otherwise.

But can anybody bump that date semi-officially up?

I'll say...hmmm...Feb 10. Seems like a nice round number and is far away enough to actually give them to time to contact you, but soon enough that it wouldn't be the end of the world to wait until then. Anyone else?

Is the interview a must for admission?

j07, my interviewer called me to set it up... so they aren't all done by e-mail

Im just curious whether the time of the interview means anything. Like the earlier the interview the worse and the later the better or something.

I really doubt it. When the interviews are set up, committees haven't even really begun to review files, so it's not like they interview the most-likely-admitted applicants first and then work their way down. It entirely depends on the alumni network of your area.

So, since the letter says you can call if the interviewer hasn't called in a few weeks, would most of you really wait patiently the entire 3 weeks, or after a week, give the interviewer a call?

If they say to wait a few weeks, wait a few weeks. Well...at least two. By then you'll be plenty impatient enough and it's just fine to give them a call.
