Interview - Follow up Emails?

Hello,

So, I’ve had 6 college interviews and I just realized I never sent a follow up email thanking the interviewer. 2 of them were today so there’s still time for them, and one of the schools I interviewed for already deferred me so it doesn’t matter, but is this a really negative thing? I’ve heard of people doing this before, but mainly thought it was only necessary if there was something you forgot to mention or something you needed to clarify.

Will this reflect negatively on me? Should I make sure to send thank you emails for my remaining interviews? Thank you!

It’s not a big deal, no, @bluekou23 , but it’s nice to send a quick thank-you note.

Think about it this way…it can’t hurt and it might help! Invest 5 mins and send the thank you emails.

My D did not send any interview follow-up emails including schools where she was accepted with generous merit aid.
So my advice is don’t sweat it, but go ahead and send notes if you feel better that way.

Thanks everyone! I’ll send them from now on, but won’t stress about those that I didn’t send notes to.

I wouldn’t stress about it, but it’s always polite. While the interviewer will probably send off their report before you send your thank-you note, it will make them feel appreciated since they are taking time out of their presumably busy schedules to interview you. It just leaves a nice reflection of you in their mind.

My D didn’t think about thank you emails until she had already done most of her interviews. She did very well in admissions. I do think a quick thank you is preferable though.
