After you all interviewed, what did you recieve in the mail as a follow up? I received a post card from the senior intern I interviewed with, did anyone else get the postcard? Did anyone get anything else?

I as well got a postcard. I’ve done interviews at 10 schools, and I received a postcard from each. It is just polite, it should not be seen as anything special.
I also got a letter from the director of admissions thanking me for the interview and reiterating what the postcard from my interviewer said. only some people receive this letter.

Alright, thank you! I knew that the postcard was common practice- but I too recieved the letter from the director of admissions and I wasn’t sure if it was common practice aswell. You say that only some people recieve the letter of distinction? That makes me feel better :)

I got a letter from the director of admissions saying how well my interview went. According to my college advisor, it’s indeed a distinction, and means that you had an outstanding interview.

thanks guys! :)

I didn’t hear anything, but that might be because there’s some confusion over my mailing address (boarding school vs. home).

Yeah, I got a handwritten postcard and the letter from the director of admissions. And all these other emails and things in the mail…Hamilton sends a TON of mail – am I right? My Mom was like “Hmmm I wonder why Hamilton is so expensive…probably because they mail out so much stuff to all the prospective students…” haha!

Thought I would chime in. Two of my kids interviewed this year for admission. Both received a hand written card from the student-interviewer (similar to my other kids that applied in past years), but this year each received a follow-up letter from the Dean of admission. This is actually the same M.O. that Colgate uses when an acceptance letter arrives (it is accompanied by a hand written note from the Dean that mentions a specific part of the students application that was noteworthy)…it actually looks like it might have been computer generated using a handwriting software or something.

The letters from Hamilton arrived on different dates, which caused a little upset around the house. But they basically said the same thing except for a short blurb the was gleaned from the student-interviewer notes. I thought it was a nice touch, but advised to take it with a grain of salt and not read too much into it. They do it for every student that they interview.

My daughter was accepted ED1, interview follow up post card from student who gave the interview plus a follow up letter from a director in the admissions office. Read into it as you may but I am told only some students get the letter from the admissions office.

how long did it take for the post card and letter from director of admissions to come?

My son got both of his within 2 weeks of the interview.

@mammakin did your son end up EDing to Hamilton?

Yes, he did. Did you?

my D did not get a postcard, but she rec’d a letter from the Director stating that she heard the interview went well and she was a strong candidate.

@mammakin yes i applied early.

I got a post card from my interviewer and also a letter from the director talking about a specific topic from my interview. Does everybody receive the letter or is it exclusive? I heard that not everybody gets a letter but then i also heard that it is common practice
