I have my Interview with a Duke alumni this weekend for Early Decision and would appreciate any and all advice/tips! I’m kind of nervous
When did you submit your app and when did you get contacted? What state? Sorry that sounds creepy lol
I submitted Wednesday and was contacted today. FL
Alllright, yeah I submitted Thursday but haven’t been contacted yet. I’m also in Iowa so there might not be any alumni around
Good luck!
Anyone have advice?
- Don't be nervous -- it's nothing to be stressed about. 2. Be yourself. 3. Be ready to talk about your experiences and passions. 3. Have questions to ask about Duke. 4. Sound excited/energized/enthusiastic about Duke. I've been conducting alumni interviews for 7 years -- most of us WANT you to do well, give us a reason to be your advocate.
Good luck!
Read my earlier posts in this topic. In summary just relax and be honest and warm.
Make eye contact and smile.
@sgopal2 my interview went great! I was considering sending a follow-up thank you email. Should I do it or refrain from doing so?
Yes, definitely send a polite follow-up email. Make it short and sweet.
I’m actually surprised as to how many students neglect to send a follow-up thank you. Its a nice touch.
