Duke Alumni Interview

Hi, I have an interview with a Duke Alumni this Monday. Any suggestions, example questions they may ask would be greatly appreciated. Also -people say to write a short thank you letter to the interviewer after the interview is done, how are you supposed to give them the letter? Pre-write it and give it to them at the end of the interview or email/mail them?

Thanks :)

how did your alumni interview get scheduled so quickly? when did you turn in ur duke supplement or application by?

My application was completed by October 1st… I was surprised I got an interview this early too!

Sanguine how long did it take for your online application tracker to show you have everything in? I sent in my common app, the supplement 5 days ago and it still says incomplete online.

oh wow nice!! did you turn in your duke supplement as well?

Email a short thank you note within a day (or two at most) to your interviewer thanking him/her for his/her time and saying you enjoyed the conversation. That’s about all you need to do. Typing or handwriting a letter is definitely overkill. Some cities have yet to begin the interview process for early applicants, so don’t worry if you haven’t heard anything yet. Just be prepared to talk about your extracurricular activities, why you’d be a good fit for Duke, what your goals/passions are, etc. And come prepared with some questions. Nothing to stress too much about, but certainly act engaged and show that you’ve actually taken the effort to previously learn about the university and what you could bring to the community.

Ok thanks. And I had all my application/supplemental/recs in by October 1st… they updated the information on the tracker very quickly actually… It was updated within 3-5 days of me sending the material in. However, the very first part (the application tracker creating email) took a very long time (almost a month after I submitted both supplemental and common app.)

I’m confused because I got an email a few days ago that said they received my application but it’s still not updated!

Had my interview Monday. The only question I had that was a little bit of a curve is what major obstacle have you faced and how did you handle it.
