I applied ED and was contacted earlier in the month for an interview about three weeks later. I responded promptly but have still received absolutely no response regarding the time and place after more than two weeks even when I sent a polite confirmation email as the date is quickly approaching. The same situation has occurred for a few other people in my area with different interviewers. Even if I was deferred/rejected in the meantime, I believe it would be very rude to completely cease communication with the applicant. I was planning on contacting admissions soon but what are your thoughts?
Give admissions a tap on the window on Monday. Inquire via telephone and say other applicants in your area have had the same thing happening. It won’t hurt. You might not get a meaningful reply – but you might.
thanks! i will definitely do that
while unlikely, do you think this may be indicative of rejection?
Right now, there are about 800 Ivy early applicants that have asked about the link btn no interview and possible rejection. The answer is the same for all of you: no. It’s OK
Again, interviews don’t mean anything. I had an interview, one week after my submission. You think they can possibly finish reading all the applications in one week and choose which ones they want to interview? No! My close friend was accepted ED without an interview, so there is no need to panic.
This has nothing to do with whether you or not you will be admitted to Columbia. Interviews are conducted by local alumni via regional ARC committees. This just means an alumni dropped the ball, or someone who signed up to interview wasn’t able to, or something like that. Go ahead and contact admissions. I’m in a major metro area w/ lots of Columbia alums, and even so, we sometimes can’t get enough people to interview, especially for ED when the timing is tight. Good luck!
Same thing happened to me
