I didn't have an interview yet. An alumni contacted me and I made myself available and that's it, never heard from him again. I sent him another email and nada

No, it doesn't mean you were rejected.

That does not mean you were rejected at all. I would email the regional rep and let her know that you were contacted for an interview but the interviewer did not follow up. I think you should do this in the event that there may be an impression that the interviewer contacted you and you were not available.

You should contact the admissions office and notify them that your interviewer has not followed up on your correspondence.

The lack of a response has nothing to do with whether you will be rejected or not. Perhaps the alumnus is out of town or tending to an emergency.

Impossible to call my regional adm. at columbia. I tried to get through and all I got was some guy who told me that because the huge amount of applications they didn't have time to complete all the interviews on time. Brace yourselves for DEFERRALS

Don't worry about it. The interviewer will either not submit a report at all or will fill the form out that says he didn't have time to interview you. There's only a problem if you don't make yourself available. It won't help or hurt your chances in any way, and there's nothing to do--don't bug the admissions people now; they're busy.

Me, worry? nahhh

What's the worse that can happen? I get rejected, find myself in a lousy college like Johns Hopkins or worse yet, Tufts, feel miserable for 4 years, end up in a lousy job, make everybody around me miserable, bark and snap at all my co-workers, get promoted because management see in that behaviour signs of leadership. Finally end up in top management and god forbid I ever hire one of those pitiful arrogant Ivyleaguer......

A lousy college like JHU or Tufts? Get off your pedestal, my friend.

Lolita: did you detect a tone of sarcasm on my post? or was I too subtle ?

I hoped you were being sarcastic. Whew. (One never can truly tell when you're just reading it online.)

Tufts isn't that lousy. Just kidding, Lolabelle.

Tufts is my second choice

Well, if you don't get in to Columbia ED, you can always try ED II at Tufts. Good luck, let me know where the winds take you!
