Interview prior to application

Hello,
My rising senior daughter was invited via email to schedule a interview prior to applying. She had her interview yesterday. Does this mean anything in terms of her acceptance chances? Thanks.

My nephew had an interview prior to applying and was rejected. He was a strong student …graduated #2, very high scores etc.

It doesn’t mean anything. They haven’t seen her application yet so they have no idea if she will be a compelling candidate or not.

If Yale contacted her for an interview it is on the basis of SAT scores or the like, no?

If I recall from D17, it may be an auto-generated email when the summer and fall interview slots open up if she previously expressed interest or attended an on-campus event. It’s nice to get to do an on-campus interview but I don’t think it means much.

I think my nephew may have visited the campus… that must be how they got his email info. His interview was at a local restaurant… he saw another student walking in for the interview as he was walking out ( nephew knew the person and they stopped to chat for a moment).

He wasn’t planning to apply until the interviewer talked him into it.

Poor wording…^. The interview went well and my nephew put it back on his list. He was not rejected because of a perceived lack of interest.

I agree with the others, it doesn’t mean anything. Good luck to your daughter, Yale is a wonderful university (son is Class of 2019).
