Does the optional interview increase chances for admission (even a tiny bit)? Also, is it true that if I show a deep interest in JHU it will increase chances for admission?

AdmissionsDan had already answered this question. I do believe as he mentioned that the JHU interview is solely for information purposes and non-evaluative. I had one and I enjoyed it. I got to know a whole lot more. I'd personally recommend it.

As for showing a deep interest, I don't know what Dan will say but I'd say that makes a lot of sense.

Interviewing does not increase nor decrease your chances for admission. Since they are optional and informational, they are not used as a crucial factor in the admissions review.

Displaying SINCERE interest in JHU is always something an admissions counselor will note, but this will not greatly increase your chances of admission. I know of other schools where this is a big factor, at JHU it is not. I will though say that when reviewing an applicant, a large question is whether or not the student will FIT Hopkins, and what will that student contribute to the academic and social community. Think about those questions when completing the application.

But sending an email a week, visiting the campus 20x, calling us constantly, etc. is not going to increase your chances.
