I recently got my email telling me that I have been granted an interview and will set up a date for it within the next week. I was just wondering if anyone could give me some tips on what type of questions I should expect and things of that nature. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Interviews have very negligible to no weight in the admissions process, and are there just to help you get to know more about Hopkins. Just go in and ask the interviewer any questions you have and have a good conversation. I didn’t even have an interview myself. Don’t stress much about it. Good luck!

I just finished giving interviews and my friend is also giving interviews; what questions you get completely depends on who interviews you. Be prepared for questions about why you’re interested in what major you picked, what extra-curriculars are important to you, what courses outside your major you could see yourself taking, how you would contribute to the campus community, why Hopkins is a fit for you and why you’re a fit for Hopkins. Talk about things that make you unique. I personally would jump onto things the interviewee said that I knew stuff about and would then have a conversation about that. I’m a fan of throwing in oddball questions just for the fun of it, to see where things go (and sometimes the responses are quite revealing). The bottom line is, regardless of what you’re asked, make sure you think through your answers and don’t just blurt out the first thing that comes to mind. Also don’t say what you think the interviewer wants to hear. Personally, I never hoped for a particular answer; I simply wanted a thoughtful and well-articulated one.
