Interview Scheduling Issue?

Just wondering if anyone else is encountering a delay in scheduling an alumni interview with CWRU? My DD requested one back in early September, and she checked in with the coordinator once already. Nothing back yet.

She’d like to apply EA, and waiting to get the interview done in order to check that box on the app.

Big deal or nah?

I am an alumni ambassador and I do interviews.

Your student’s names get put on a list. I would look at my list and see students name and how far away from me. So you may be near a Alumni ambassador and you may not be. We are volunteers so we try to do as many as we can but can only do so many.

Not super big deal…the fact that you reached out I think counts for “showing interest”. Also it is a way for us to answer your questions.

For most people, I think admissions can get what they need from your app. But for others I have seen a kid who babysat his brother so he couldn’t’ do ECs but we talked and could come up with leadership from what he did do.

@bopper thank you. Kinda kicking ourselves because she visited at last year’s Open House. But, she wasn’t ready to interview yet, still contemplating her list of colleges.

Anyway, thanks for the insight!

FWIW, my alma mater hasn’t even started assigning ED students for alumni interviews.

I am trying to look at my list but my password isn’t working lol (have contacted the university)

@momofsenior1 yikes! I was wondering how this all worked with the deadlines.

My alma matter doesn’t use the alumni meetings as evaluative unless they are really, really on the fence about an applicant (and even then I’m not sure how much it matters). The meetings are more for the students to be able to ask questions and learn more about the university.

In years past, we got our assignments in early November and had to have our meetings and reports submitted before early December. My sense is that the admissions committee begins the process without them and again, only if they are still on the fence about an applicant will they consider the report.

If anything, requesting an interview and following through shows demonstrated interest.

Thank you - very helpful.

This spurred me to check my interview list!

Okay - dumb question…

There’s a question about types of “contact” with the school on the Common application - “alumni interview” is a choice. Since it’s not completed yet (just requested), she shouldn’t check this box, correct?

i s’pose not…is there an “other” where you could say you requested one?

My son also requested an interview a month ago and never heard anything either. He did attend an offsite Case event and also met the local rep when he came to our high school. He applied EA. I’m not sure there is much more we can do (we can’t visit campus easily right now).

Alumni interviews can’t always be done because of limitations related to geography, timing, alumni availability, and applicant volume.

@TytoAlba I think he has shown sufficient interest!

This process can be so stressful. We drove all the way to Cleveland and attended the Spring Open House, yet we still second-guess whether this is “enough” interest shown. Oy!

I think that is enough!!!

We live in Hawaii. Impossible to visit. Case doesn’t come to the college fair. My son requested an interview. We followed up several weeks later with a phone call and was told to send an email. It’s been 4 days and no reply. I called today and was told they are very busy and probably won’t reply for a while.

It’s November, and I believe my D first requested an interview in early September with a follow up request a month later. Still nothing. She even asked the rep who came to her school for an interview, and she wasn’t able to. Oh well.

Also for interviews there has to be an alumni ambassador that lives nearish you.

Same boat. We asked for one months ago. Never heard. Strange there’s be no one. We’re in a major Midwest city.

Their may be no alumni ambassadors near you…there may be too many for one ambassador to do…but I think the fact that you asked counts as showing interest.
