I'm meeting with a School of Hotel Administration alumni next week, and was wondering what kind of dress code would be appropriate. I'm meeting him at his business office, but I'm not sure if I should suit up, or just a blazer and a dress shirt.

The interview is weighted heavily for SHA, so any help would be appreciated.

I wore a white 3 piece suit for mine but iv’e heard a normal suit will also work. Also wear a fake pair of glasses because it will make you look really smart, black thick rimmed ones work really well. Carry a walking stick and bring a top hat just in case, you never know what everyone else will be wearing.

actually, that might not be true for the Hotel interview…I meet with applicants but not Hotel and I tell them to dress as for school…but I think many on here have previously suggested wearing dressier clothes for the required Hotel Interview vs. the Optional Alumni Info Meeting that the other colleges/schools offer.

definitely go w/ noragon’s idea of a cane and top hat. A brightly colored suit, lime green, maybe, would go well with that too. Believe me, everyone would remember you if you came like that.

@memphismom, Yes that’s what I was thinking too and a little bit of research confirmed it. Apparently, formal business attire IS required, because it’s a professional interview.
