Interview!

And just when I had thought that the admissions process was down to the business end(when adcoms eventually make the decisions), I got an interview request from Duke. It didnt sound like a request though, but more like I have to go ahead and take the offer.

So I eventually did reply back positively and have set the interview(right at the start of my finals week!) :(

Are interviews still being held? Or is this late-request an anomaly?

What caught me by a surprise was that I had received an email earlier in Jan. that stated that since I was an international applicant who lived in a country where the no. of applicants is far more than the no. of interviewers, there is a possibility of not being interviewed at all. The email further said that even though not being offered an interview would not affect me negatively, i'm welcome to submit an additional letter of recco. So I did tell a Duke alum. to send in their recco.

So now what is this interview about? Any specific tips for the same?

B/w i'm an international aid applicant for Pratt. It said on Duke's fin aid website that ONLY 20-22 internationals are funded. So it is VERY VERY competitive.

Bump…/… . …

If they offer you an interview that means interviews are still being held. Sometimes they have fewer alumni in each region than they would like, which causes things to happen later. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t interview, especially if you really want to go to Duke. So go for it, but focus on your finals. Don’t let it stress you out. It’s just an interview. Good luck :)

My S just had his interview earlier this week. I too thought that the admissions process was “down to business”, but apparently business includes late interviews :-).

Just be prepared with “why duke”.

Good luck, both with your interview and finals!

Thanks a lot.
Duke is definitely one of my top choices. I have my interview in 12hrs from now.
