I'm applying to Wash U regular decision, and I would really like to have an interview, primarily because of the demonstrated interest factor. I can't find anything about interviews for undergraduate admission on their website. How do you get an interview scheduled? Is there a deadline to get an interview scheduled?

It's too late to get an alumni interview. They finished those mid-december. :(

Thanks HVSahin. How was I supposed to find this out? I can't find it on the webpage. I must be looking in the wrong place.

No - it's not too late in some areas.
You should email your rep ( or the main admissions office) and ask if there is any way you could schedule an interview. They may tell you no, but at least you will have tried. I know they are still interviewing in Los Angeles.

Thanks ASAP! I will promptly do that! Chances are that they won't have an alumnus in my area, but it's all about the demonstrated interest!

I've called 4 times since October to try to get an interview, and whe I alst called (Dec. 15) they told me they're finishing up off-campus interviews that week.

You could get an on-campus interview until March, though.

It totally depends on where you live.

They're still scheduling alumni interviews in KC.

yep, and in cincy

I have one tomorrow, is it formal (tie) or casual (sweater)

It's not over everwhere. I just came back from mine :) I would say it's not too formal -- I actually wore jeans (nice ones) -- and a suede jacket, dress shirt over a nice brown one. The interview lasted a little over an hour, but my mom said mine was longer than everyone else's, so I don't know. Some off-the-wall questions...I'm kind of nervous.

I'm in Atlanta, btw.

I got a letter a few days ago telling me about an interview... tomorrow. Pretty late notice. Anyway, it's at a private school in the city, and I'm guessing that they're doing mass interviews.

Wait, the link says that interviews will be scheduled through Jan 15. That means, if I send in my application and preapp tomorrow, I can still get an interview? I don't have to call APAP do I?
Will it boost my chances if I do one?

An interview should help you, but if you send your app they won't necessarily say, yes I want to interview you here.... you have to show interest in an interview. Call them or e-mail them. ... now

i asked for an interview, and there were no alums in the area, but the nice man on the phone said all he could do was make a note that I had requested one, so that takes care of part of the demonstrated interest...

Oh right! Whenwillitbeover is correct, I remember the lady saying that too! They do make note if you requested one!
