Interview

Hi everyone,
I'm international student and have applied MIT. Although most students from my country got interview I haven't have an interview yet. Does it mean that I was already rejected or my application won't be considered because they could find cheating or something(I didn't cheat or lie) ?

Thankyou

The interview should have happened already. The deadline for you to schedule one once your interviewer was assigned was December 10.

Were you assigned an interviewer? It is also possible that your interview was waived, which does not put you at a disadvantage. But you would have gotten that information a long time ago.

Just to clarify what lidusha said: You would have had an interviewer listed on MyMIT. You were supposed to contact them before December 10 to schedule the interview. If they didn’t have an interviewer for you, then they might have waived it - check MyMIT or call admissions to check.

Why are you worried about them finding cheating?

yes, as international student my and friends’ interviews were waived. But most of them already were offered an interview via skype.
I’m not worrying at all, recently friend of mine has told me that if admission officers find something suspicious they could not consider your application at all. Actually I don’t know how it is called, but I’m sure it is word that describe such situation.
thank you.

You’re supposed to contact your assigned interviewer (or Admissions, if you don’t have one) to set up a Skype interview.

Just to be clear. Much of this advice may not be accurate depending on your country. If you are applying from a country with no EC’s (for example the EC directory shows no ECs in Rwanda this year), then your interview will either
a) Be waived (in which case not having an interview will not hurt you)
b) Be set up as a Skype interview with an alumnus elsewhere. In this case, then you may be given an interviewers name on your MyMIT page which you will have needed to contact in the usual way.

As a rule, MIT tries to offer Skype interviews when it can interview the large majority of those applying from a region. For some countries, notably China and India, the interview scheduling rules change again. These two countries use slightly different deadlines, and often interview later, as the large majority of these students are waived as there just aren’t enough ECs there.

Just look at your MyMIT page to determine your status. if it tells you that the interview was WAIVED. then do not worry about it. if it tells you that you have a interview listed that you were supposed to have contacted by 10 December, then you are applying without an interview. Whatever your situation, it should tell you on your MyMIT page.

Mikalye, thank you
