Hi guys,
I am an international applicant who will apply to MIT next year. The problem is that my interview is waived(i have already created a MyMIT account in order to get to know the application process ;) ) . Is it possible to request a Skype interview if the applicant really wants to take the interview and considers it as an important part of his app?And also, does MIT require the certificates(scanned or mailed) you have won through the years or it is only needed to mention the awards you have won?
Thanks in advance

You can contact internet@mit.edu to request an interview, but it may well be turned down. The goal is to ensure that all of the candidates from that location are treated the same. Now if you are waived because there just aren’t any applicants from your location (say the Comoros Islands for example), then you can be granted a Skype interview without disadvantaging anyone else, so they may do so. But they may well say no. Being waived does not count against you in any way whatsoever.

@Mikalye , there are no available interviewers for my country , but i can’t know whether there are other students applying to MIT next year… I know that it does not count against me in any way, but i think that it would be a plus if I took the interview.Do you think that it would be inappropriate to request an interview? Thank you for your time.

Feel free to ask. It is not inappropriate. Just do not expect that you will necessarily succeed.

From what I read in your OP “will apply to MIT next year”, are you a junior? If so, don’t contact admissions/your EC/ right now. Wait until fall of your senior year.

@Saxplayer100 Yes i am a junior. Indeed in order to get to know the MyMit app i created another account as i was applying this year.
