Interview

How was Columbia interview for most people? Do they actually ask you about things on your application …like the books you have listed? Just want to know because some of the books I enjoyed most on my list were read 3 years ago 3 years ago…do I need to brush up on things on my list?
What other kids of questions do they ask?

not to be a nitpicker… but you’re not supposed to put books that you read 3 years ago on the list. it says to list books, required readings, events/shows/etc. you enjoyed most in the past YEAR.
as for your questions about the interview, I’d assume they won’t be asking you about things on your application, but i don’t really know myself, since I have yet to submit my application. so don’t take my word for it.

My columbia interview was really chill. I was only asked about one of the books on my list (Atlas Shrugged). They also asked me a bunch of questions about my ECs and we even talked about current events a bit. Good luck!

US interviews are really different from those in the UK. They wouldn’t ask much about things on your commonapp. In fact I know a person who interviews for Columbia…she says that when they receive information, it’s only the student’s name, gender, email address and intended major/area of interest. So don’t worry too much about books that you’ve forgotten. And don’t worry too much about the three-year-old book mistake either…I’m sure lots of people have even written books they didn’t actually read in an effort to bolster their list.
