so i sent an email to my interviewer like 2 weeks ago, before the deadline and he still hasn't gotten back to me. what am i supposed to do? its way past the deadline and i have to have an interview. how should i handle this?

MIT's a reach for everyone, and if you get it waived, it shouldn't hurt you. I guess I could give you the customary "why didn't you contact your interviewer before?" You could have called MIT earlier and gotten them to give you another interviewer. :-/

At this point, though, it seems you should just contact "higher authority" - MIT Admissions - and have them decide.

fireside, didn't they provide a phone number for the person? If so, call; email is not a reliable method. If not, email again. I think the deadline to set up an interview for EA may have been 10/20. You could also call Admissions for another person.

I received this message from the EC coordinator on Monday 10/24:

"... while the deadline to contact their EC has passed for early action applicants, early action applicants can still arrange interviews with you. It is just that we can no longer guarantee that the interview report will be considered in the early round. But, you should know that it has been the case that some students have been trying to contact their EC with no luck, so we will give them someone else to call. If you get one of these students calling you (they won't be on your list), please be flexible with arranging the interview, as we don't want to penalize these students."

The deadline for the interview reports to be submitted by the EC's is November 1st, so if you can get an interview scheduled with another EC before then, it could be considered for Early Action. You should call the Admissions Office as soon as possible and get a new EC name. You might want to ask for the Regional Chair, who will know all the EC's in your area and might be able to recommend someone who can give you a fast turnaround on the interview report.

Good luck, and don't worry if you don't get the interview done in time for EA. Lots of kids get deferred in early action and then get admitted in regular action.

thanks so much for the responses, i called and i have one set up for before Nov 1st. I saw the thing on MITs website that said you could contact your interviewer still, so i decided to call, and everything has worked out. And now the interview...
