yea...they told me to wear casual clothing too but when I showed up at my high school for the meeting, everyone was wearing completely formal clothing. Anyways, goodluck CindyWC. Just come up with a couple of good questions to ask the interviewer and be confident about ur goals.....

I wonder how much this could potentially help an applicant.

i'm living in southern california, and i heard that our representative is NEW.

I was wondering whether I have to ask Cornell for an interview, or they contact me if I can have one.....

dont dress TOO casual though. preppy clothes never hurt ;P

had mine about a week ago and it went really well, at first the alumni just asked basic questions like why cornell and about my extra curriculars, and then it became a really casual conversation ranging from the social life at cornell to talking about irrelevent stuff like politics. I also didn't really have to worry about what I wore since I had the interview during school, and I have to wear a uniform.

what questions did you guys ask them??

These are some of the questions i remember:
1. Did u end up in the career that u choose as an applicant to Cornell? (spent 15-20 mins on that )

What do u think is the transition like from high school(like mine) to a college like Cornell(spent 10 mins on this)?

Which year at Cornell was most significant to u and how ?(5 mins )

I was able to ask a couple more questions about his ans from the first question....the whole thing was pretty casual and the questions were usually related to our topic of discussion at that moment

im now a member!

anyway, just a few things to keep in mind when you're asking the interviewer questions:
-dont ask questions just straight out because they tend to sound forced and a bit scripted. try easing into the question (i.e. i come from a small high school and the teachers were always available. i was just wondering, with cornell having such a large student population and a student to teacher ratio of "blah:blah", how accessible are the professors?)
-dont ask more than 3-4 questions (unless you're having a conversation)
-thats about all i can remember, ill post more when things come to mind =P

my interviewer was telling me about the past interviews he has given (for hotel) and he said that his only interviewee who did not get accepted was "awkward" (other factors were probably involved, but a bad interview can hurt)

lol! Sorry to get your hopes high afchang...i just remembered now that it's 300 posts..... heh..heh...

(runs away)

ouch...that hurts =(

I have mine today!

I had mine yesterday, my interviewer was a great guy and an uncle of my friend. I thought we had some common ground as to why he attended Cornell and why I want to, but mostly it was a nice little back-and-forther on little stuff. Although, he asked me if there were any questions he should have asked and of course I told him to ask me about my crazy hair... just my weird humor I suppose.
