all my d's friends from her hs have been contacted for an interview already... why is my d still waiting? and do you think Duke has good financial aid

Where do you live? I'm in the midwest and I haven't been contacted yet either :(

Can I assume she is applying Regular Decision? Because I applied Early Decision and my interview was a full week after the deadline--you should get a call soon!

we live in Miami and yes she applied RD.

Did anybody else receive interview offers yet?

I haven't and I live in LA...

Interviews are highly dependent on the alum who's doing them. If they are ultra busy then they might hold off on contacting you. Also, I could be wrong but I don't think the timetable for interviewing is as tight for RD because you should have at least a month or so to do them versus ED which is about 3 weeks. Still plenty of time.

As for financial aid, I have heard of friends who get nothing from Duke and others who are treated well. Since I don't know their financial circumstance, I can't really comment. But my personal experience is that they are pretty rigid about adjusting their initial estimates (calculated need) if your circumstances don't change much. But if your situation does change drastically (parents take a big pay cut, loss of employment, medical emergency, etc) they are very nice about it and are willing to revise stuff and reevaluate your package. Unfortunately, I can't comment on how the packages compare to peer institutions as I was admitted ED.

I got the form for applying for financial aid via email a couple days ago.

I live in South Florida and haven't gotten any calls for an interview.. I know a few people from my school who have though. I'm waiting!!

I live in Oklahoma and I have not been contacted about an interview yet. Not exactly sure how many alumni are in this area though...

I haven't been contacted although people at my school have been =(

I have no idea what to do. Any way WE can contact them?

No, you don't know who will be assigned to do your interview in your area until you are contacted and I imagine even the local alum don't know what's going on until they get info from Duke.

As for why people haven't been contacted yet, it's also possible that the admissions office does it in batches. I imagine they don't just send out interview requests to local alumni associations as the apps come in on a rolling basis. It's more likely that they are holding the next batch of interview requests until the current app rush is over. But then again, that's only my speculation.

I live in Texas and was contacted halfway through December for an interview for RD. Then again, I think there are several alumni in my area so that may be why. My interviewer called me and requested an interview time; I did not request one.

Maybe she submitted her application later than her friends? Generally, I would think alumni are more available to interview in, say, November than December with the holidays and such.

I have heard from several people on CC that Duke financial aid is not good. But then again, I have a friend who goes there who got an excellent financial aid package. So I guess it just depends.

i submitted my duke supplement by the required deadline for an interview. (i later found out it wasnt absolutely necessary to respect the deadline.)

even so, an alum got in touch with me a week later thou. and i liv in france lol.

I live in california and I had my interview yesterday.
My interviewer said that the interviewers are given a list of people and it is up to them to contact the students... so sometimes the interviewers are a little slow in contacting people.

my Duke VIP account is messed up and says nothing is received, but I called and they have everything. I will call again to ask if they still know that I need an interview.

Maybe the tracking is messed up like mine is...

i had my interview one week ago. i sent in my application about two weeks before that. so i think it really depends on the alum.
good luck!
