interviews a good sign?

Ok so I have applied to 2 schools and the one that had a later deadline (by like 2 weeks) has offered an interview, while I have heard nothing about the one with an earlier deadline. So I have 2 questions:
1) Is an interview a good thing? Like does it mean I may have been strong and made it through another "round" of the admissions process or does it mean that mine was likely weaker than others?
2) Is it likely that I have gotten cut from the applicant pool from the other school? Or do some schools just not require interviews for some applicants?

Could be good/somewhat good. It’s not bad because it means they’re not declining you based on what you submitted. Has others who have applied to the program gotten in without an interview? If so, you might be borderline admit/reject. Could also be that’s how your POI finds new students. Who knows.

I received an email today notifying me that I had been accepted to the school that I did not interview.
