interviews

would someone please explain how important they are?

does it make a difference between on campus and off campus?

what should i bring? what should i wear?

lol so many questions

My son is now a sophomore at GWU. When he was applying, he did his interview off campus in NJ. I’m pretty sure he wore khakis and a button down shirt open and untucked over a tee-shirt. Not too dressy, but much nicer than his usual look. I’m not sure how important they are.

I think how passionate you are about GW will really set you apart. I have said this time and time again, my interview got me into GW. You want the interviewer to remember you after their long day of interviews. You may have an admissions representative or you may have an actively connected alumni.

I had my interview off-campus, so I can’t tell you the difference. However, I don’t believe that there is any difference, other than if you want to tour the campus as well.

I brought a resume with me, which set me apart from other students; otherwise, there is no need to bring anything else.

I would definitely dress-up a bit. You want to leave a good impression with your interviewer. I would in between business casual and business (no need for a tie or jacket), but again you want to leave a good impression.

Hope this helps!

both responses are helpful!

another question: what’s a good way to be memorable? lol that sounds pathetic, but i don’t want to take too many risks. i feel like they’ll ask me about my interests. i’ll say politics; we’ll talk about politics, and then that could end horribly!
