Interviews

Hey,

So I noticed that uchicago was one of the very few top schools that allow you to request an interview (instead of getting called for one). Will it hurt if I don't request one? I'm honestly going to be swamped this semester. I have to take extra busy work classes (e.g. PE/wellness) in order to graduate in addition to AP courses. I have other college interviews, 2 varsity sports seasons coming up, a part time job, and national science fairs to prepare for.

Thanks

BTW: does uchicago track interest?

Hi Mario&Luigi,

For what it’s worth, I myself got admitted EA without an interview.

My daughter got accepted without interview too.

They probably care about interest (or else they wouldn’t have a “Why Chicago?” essay supplement) but it’s not really about racking up “interest points” or anything. If you visit, or write that supplement compellingly, you’re probably fine. Interviews don’t matter much in general except to demonstrate that one is genuinely interested, and there are many other ways to do that.

A LOT of people that I know that got accepted to schools such as Yale, Princeton, and Stanford got wait-listed at UofC. I’m guessing demonstrated interest is a tip into the admit pile. So, just to be safe, I’m going to request an interview and do my research on the school to seem interested. Not as a ruse to get in; rather, I’m fascinated by Chicago and really want to attend.
