Can some people compare how late they applied to when they were called for an interview? I sent mine if around the 23rd and havent heard yet.

I sent my app in mid-November and I just got an e-mail from my interviewer.

Somehow i got an interview before i finished my entire application

same - my interview was over Christmas break, but I submitted the whole thing Dec 31.

I submitted all my forms on Dec. 29th and my interviewer called me like 5 mins ago today.

Interviews are tricky. I was talking to some other kids from my area who got into Tufts, and I was the only one who had an interview. So the moral is: don't worry if you don't get an interview; lots of people have gotten into Tufts without them.

I am a Tufts alumni interviewer. I am pretty sure that they assign interviews once they receive your application fee (or waiver). Priority is given to ED 2 candidates. Right now the interview assignments are coming at us at an alarming rate. Be patient.

Yes, I'm currently overloaded with applicants to interview, so it may take a while before I contact the ones at the bottom of my list.

When S. applied ED he was notified that he'd be called for an interview within three weeks, but never got one. Emailed the contact person, but never heard back. He was somewhat worried, but got in without one. Perhaps in some areas (like parts of NY and MA) there might just be too many applicants to keep up with(?)

There are several geographic areas where the number of applicants far outstrip the ability of the alumni volunteers, and you can't always guess where they are. I know kids from both San Francisco and Boston who couldn't get interviews.

Applying to college is so stressful--please don't let not getting an interview be part of that stress. Tufts really does mean it when they say that interviews are not necessary. In reality, the interview is more likely to influence an admitted applicant's decision to go there than it is to have been a factor in getting in.
